“Our Volunteers play a huge part at the LNAA, they help us raise thousands of pounds that go towards reaching the £1.7million we need each year to keep the helicopter flying” said Lynn Jones, Nottinghamshire Volunteer Co-ordinator. “They become part of our team, are highly valued and all get a lot out of knowing that they contribute towards keeping this vital service running”.
The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance life-saving service average 4 call-outs a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. The majority of incidents are the most serious road traffic accidents but the LNAA are also called to locations where it’s impossible for land ambulances to access or emergencies where speed is of the essence. With no Government or Lottery funding the £1.7 million annual costs have to be met from the community. The LNAA shops raise a substantial amount and help give a regular income.
“The whole team is very excited about having a new presence in the town but the success of the shop will heavily rely on the people of Retford coming forward to help” Lynn continued. “If you can spare a few hours a day or week please give me a call on 0115 9412255. There are other volunteering opportunities available in the Retford area too that I will be happy to chat with you about and you can be assured that any time you can offer will be very much appreciated”
