Knitting up support for
Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance
As part of our 30th Anniversary year – kicking off on 13 May 2024 – we are calling all crafty members of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire to join our Lincs & Knotts Helicopter Challenge and make helicopter postbox toppers or yarn bombs to display in your local community.
Our aim is to cover the whole of Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire with hundreds of yellow helicopters spreading the word about the life-saving work of our crew. And we need knitters and people who crochet to help us create this masterpiece.
There are THREE ways you can take part:
The sky is the limit as you let your imagination soar and design a unique, eye-catching postbox topper! All we ask is that you include a yellow knitted helicopter in the design!
Helicopters in Your Local Area
Knit or crochet a helicopter and display it in your local hot spot. Shops, pubs, churches, libraries – let’s try and get a yellow helicopter in as many community places as possible.
Cast off all your cares and cast on your creativity! Cover the town yellow as you and your fellow knitters create a cornucopia of colour. Drop us a line and let us know your ideas.
It is so easy to get involved
All we ask is you give some time to either knit or crochet on your own or as part of a ‘knit & natter group’. Or why not volunteer yourself to run your community initiative.
Just grab your knitting needles and some yellow yarn and register your interest below!
Our team will provide you with a helicopter knitting and crochet template, as well as a printable tag to attached to your final masterpiece with more information about the challenge! People can scan the tag to let us know your creation has been spotted! All sightings will be recorded on our dedicated helicopter spotter map.
