LNAA paramedic explains need for excellent road victim care
We were delighted that our own paramedic, Rob Fillmer was invited to speak at Brake’s inaugural ‘After the Crash Conference’ which showcased the need for excellent support for patients involved in road traffic collisions.
On 21 June, Rob joined nearly 190 people representing the police, emergency services, charities that support injured road victims or bereaved adults or children, trauma counsellors and therapists to share knowledge and agree the next steps to ensure that people affected or injured by road crashes receive the expert support they need.
Rob gave an insight into helicopter emergency medical services and the interventions the team would use when attending a road collision between a motorcycle and car. He focussed on the successful Biker Down programme which aims to reduce motorcycle deaths across the UK, before sharing information about the importance of LNAA’s Patient & Family Liaison Team.
