International Fellow (Emergency Medicine and Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine)

LOCATION: Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, UK; Mayo University Hospital, Ireland

HOURS: 48 hours per week (average), this includes: Day shifts: 07:00 -19:00 and night shifts: 19:00 -07:00 Changes to working patterns may be required on occasion and adequate notice will be given.

TYPE: Full time, employed

REPORTING TO: Medical Director/Deputy Medical Director (LNAA), Named Consultant in Emergency Medicine (MUH)

SALARY: £85,000 to £95,000 depending upon experience, includes unsocial hours / weekend working

Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance

The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) provides lifesaving critical care to the communities of Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire, funded by public donations. If somebody is involved in a serious incident or suddenly taken ill, speed and time are of the essence. Giving a patient the best chance of survival, our Air Ambulance crew effectively take the emergency department to the scene of the emergency.

Mayo University Hospital

Mayo University Hospital is a busy thriving Model 3 HSE hospital in the townland of Castlebar, in the beautiful North West area of Ireland. It is a 300 bed hospital, within the HSE West North West region. The hospital serves the County of Mayo and also a broader regional population. It has a strong reputation for high-quality patient care, multidisciplinary teamwork, and continuous service improvement. Mayo University Hospital is also a training hospital and provides excellent clinical exposure, strong academic ties, and a supportive environment for doctors at all stages of training.

The Emergency Department sees 45,000 presentations per year. Approx. 1/3 of the presentations are paediatric. It is a dynamic, well-structured unit, staffed by highly committed consultants, NCHDs, nurses, and allied health professionals. Our Consultant in Emergency Medicine cohort has members that are clinically current, with established experience in prehospital emergency medicine.

About the Role

We are delighted to offer the truly unique and exciting opportunity to undertake a 12-month fellowship, hosted across two countries. 6 months will be spent in the UK counties of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire as a HEMS doctor with the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance. The partner 6 months will be spent in the emergency department of Mayo University Hospital, undertaking a bespoke fellowship programme on the stunning West Coast of Ireland.

The start date is scheduled for August 2026.
We will be recruiting two individuals for a duration of six months each; one will commence with LNAA, and the other with Mayo.
