Ride to Save Lives 2017
Everything you need to know about our Ride to Save Lives
Our second annual Ride to Save Lives in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire will take place on Sunday (September 24).
The start and finish location is the Red Gate, Newark Showground. Signs will be out on the day directing bikes to the event entrance and parking.
The sign in desk will be open from 8.30am. All riders must register on the day when they first arrive. You will be given your rider number, bike vinyls and any items you have purchased upon registration.
There is a cafe on site for drinks, food and of course cake!
We hope to have a visit from the Ambucopter at around 12.30pm. The helicopter landing area will be at the Newark Ring and away from all bikes. You will have the opportunity to meet the crew and of course look around our new AW169.
The ride out will start at 10.30am and will take riders around Lincolnshire. There will be a break for lunch before the riders leave at 1.30pm for Nottinghamhsire. The ride will start and finish at Newark Showground.
There are 500 places available with registration taking place online now! To register click on the link below. Bikes must be at least 125cc to enter and must be road legal.
All money raised from this event will go directly to the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance to ensure it can continue to save lives 365 days of the year.
Each year the largest category of incidents that our Ambucopter is dispatched to are road traffic collisions, with many involving bikes. Despite accounting for just 2% of traffic on UK roads, motorcyclists are the most vulnerable road users, accounting for 20% of all road deaths.
Fundraising Manager Emma Thorpe, explains: “This year we need to raise £2.5million to support our life-saving Ambucopter which is dispatched to around 1,000 of the most serious 999 calls in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire every single year. As a Charity, we rely on donations from the public and our annual Ride to Save Lives is just one of the ways in which people can help to support their local Air Ambulance.”
This year the ride out is sponsored by weONLYmot.co.uk, run by brother and sister duo Misch and Sam Fretwell. Sam was himself airlifted by the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance following a collision five years ago. Since then, weONLYmot.co.uk has dedicated time to raising money and awareness in all 8 MOT testing centres in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire and also via events held in the local area to show their support.
