To fly at night, the helicopter had to be fitted with special instruments and equipment including a radar altimeter, night sun technology for use with NVGs and a Hoffman box. The Hoffman box is an aid for the pilots and paramedics to individually set up the night vision goggles and together they have cost the charity approximately £100,000.

The first night flying mission for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance took place on 18 December 2013 when the helicopter attended a serious road traffic accident near Market Rasen.  The pilot flew and landed the helicopter using Night Vision Goggles (NVGs), to enable an extended skills medic to be on scene and deliver specialist skills to the patients.
